One of the greatest things about travel in tropical destinations is that you really don't need much! Although you will have a checked baggage allowance of up to 20 kg on all of your flights within Thailand, we do recommend that travelers try to pack carry-on only in order to make transfers by boat & on on foot all that much easier. Below you will find some tips for packing for your trip. Should you have any questions or concerns please feel free to e-mail

As with the majority of Southeast Asian countries, many shops, temples & restaurants will request that you remove your footwear when you enter, so having a comfortable pair of flats that are easy to slide on & off will make life much easier. If your plan is to take it easy then sandals may be all you need, however, if you plan to partake in viewpoint hikes & other outdoor activities you will also want to pack comfortable outdoor shoes/ sneakers.

Temperatures in Southern Thailand averages around 32 degrees at this time of year with some rainfall throughout the weeks to cut the heat & cool things down a touch. You will want to be sure that you pack a couple of light layers for cooler/ rainy nights as well as a sarong/ scarf to have on hand for visits to temples & historical sites where a more modest dress code is typically required.

Although each of your hotels, guided tours & TL Travel leaders will have basic first aid items on hand, there are a few things that we suggest each traveler pack for themselves. In a new country with new foods, new bacteria's, rocky waters & winding roads we recommend travelers pack with them something to ease their stomach (Gravol/ Pepto Bismol) as well as an anti-diarrhea medication (Imodium), Aspirin or Tylenol. Sunscreen & bug spray are also a must for travel on the Southern coast.

It is always a good idea to make copies of your passport, driver's licence & travel insurance in the case that your documents are lost or stolen. Keep the original documents with you on the plane, the first set of copies in your checked luggage & leave a second set with friends or family at home.

For those traveling with a Visa/ Mastercard/ Debit, please be sure to report your travel to avoid being flagged or cut off by your bank.

We also suggest registering your travel plans with the government of Canada here:
