5 Reasons You May Prefer Group Travel

Traveling the world is an amazing thing! There is no better feeling (in my opinion) than stepping out of the airport in a brand new destination & being welcomed by new sights & sounds. More often though, I find myself hopping into business mode; find a taxi, barter a price, locate the hotel, where should I eat? etc., & before I know it that feeling is gone. Group travel makes all of these things easy & allows you to make the most of each moment without having to worry about the logistics of where to go next, how to get there & how not to get ripped off. If you are a traveler (or soon-to-be traveler) who has never experienced travel as a group, here are a few reasons why you should try it out!

EVERYONE BRINGS A UNIQUE PERSPECTIVE

One of my favorite elements of group travel is learning from the other travelers that you’re with. With each traveler arriving with a different set of experiences to draw from, everyone can lend their own unique ideas & opinions to the places that you visit. In a group of ten travelers all looking at the same monument or participating in the same tour, each is bound to add something extra that you would never experience or think of while traveling alone.

YOU NEVER HAVE TO BE ALONE ... UNLESS YOU WANT TO BE

Even though you are landing alone, once you have made it to your group "starting point" you don't have to be (unless you want to be) alone. Traveling in a group means that you are sharing each experience with like-minded travelers, while having the option of enjoying an experience solo. When free time arises you can easily adventure alone, invite someone from your group with similar interests, or invite the entire team! The point is that you will never be alone unless you decide to be (as opposed to always being alone unless you go hunting for friend.)

SAVE MONEY & EXPERIENCE MORE!

As a solo traveler you will always be paying the full fare for taxis, hotel rooms & activities (sometimes there is even an extra fee for solo travelers on excursions.) Compare this to traveling with friends & your expenses are cut in half (at least) for all of these necessities. Being part of a group can also open doors for you as there are a number of group activities (ex. boat cruises, specialty cooking courses, jungle trekking & more) that only offer their services to groups of 4 or more. Save your money & don't miss out!

THERE'S SAFETY IN NUMBERS

While group travel does not necessarily mean letting your guard down completely, traveling with friends means that you can spend more time enjoying your trip & less time worrying about getting scammed, robbed or lost. Having extra sets of eyes around & knowledgeable leaders to keep you on track is sure to keep you out of trouble & make your trip all that much more fun & stress-free!

LEAVE THE STRESS TO THE PROFESSIONALS

Speaking of stress; planning a trip can be stressful (especially when you’re planning to travel somewhere new.) With a group leader there to manage all of your excursions & transfers, all you will need to worry about is what you want to see next & where you're going to relax afterwards (& even those things can be arranged on your behalf!) Purchasing a group trip up-front also means eliminating the stress of budgeting while you're on the road & having to carry too much cash for excursions, transfers, hotels etc. (those payments have been handled already!)
